Ashlee and Bea's Story

Bea just turned one year old and has had her hemangioma since she was 2 weeks old.

When she was born there was no sign she would have a hemangioma but when she got closer to 2 weeks, it almost seemed as though she was getting cradle cap and as the dry skin peeled away it revealed a small hemangioma.

Her Hemangioma has still been growing since 2 weeks. old  Bea has an appointment with the dermatologist to discuss options.

*Hemangioma's progression

Her hemangioma is a mixed form.  It shows superficially and also is deep and raised off her forehead. As a mother I receive lots of comments: oh no did she bump her head? She must have had a pretty good fall, what happened to her forehead?  Does it ever go away? To which I usually explain that’s her birthmark, she was born with it.

Bea is one happy and spunky girl, she’s too young to notice it but her brother and cousin notice her mark and usually tell her she had an owie.

From a moms perspective I want to do anything I can to protect her from ridicule and being made fun of.

I had no idea what was on her forehead but have researched a lot myself and believe that this page is very informative.
